Year Of the Dog

This is a shot from this weekend’s festivities in China Town in Boston. The chinese new year, the Year of the Dog, was being celebrated. It was a great opportunity to do some street photography.

It was a lot of fun. Many people and everything was lively and extremely LOUD! :) I learned a little bit about the idea behind the dragons. It seems that the dragons bring good luck to the family/business whose door they visit. The business or family brings out offers, here it seems to be (mostly) lettuce and oranges, and the dragon eats it. One had to watch out for oranges in free-flight when taking pictures! The shredded lettuce flying through the air was less of a problem. :)

My noticed my light meter was broken just after i arrived in China Town. So, all the pictures are fully manual, using only the histogram on test-shots.
